Muskies

Muskies are a marvelous animal, offering no mercy and asking for none. Muskies are truly masters of their world. The fact that they can live to be 20 years old or more means that they must develop a memory over their life time that helps to survive in this world. Muskies appear to develop relationships with other muskies and the Pond Monster only assumes that they identify other muskies that are in their pride, so to speak. Muskies being territorial does not mean that other muskies are not living and operating within this same territory. Within this territory other muskies might or might not be welcome. Muskies might cannibalize muskies that do not belong, but might not eat members of their own pride. Muskies have been observed over the past couple of years doing remarkable things. Hunting frogs together, sighting flies before they hit the water, are two items seen by the Pond Monster. Muskies do have the ability to detect if a fresh water lamprey has attached itself & are then able to remove this lamprey by scrapping it off on rocks or gravel.
These abilities point out to the super abilities that a muskie truly has, the respect they earn is well deserved.

A special treat wading in a Northwoods Rivers and catching a fat
40"er. Wading has provided many interesting experiences, some
muskies will swim right up to a wading angler. Muskies react
to a wading fishermen in the same way they would a tree in the
water or some other object that might be floating in the water.
