The muskie is the most sought after trophy
fish in the State of Wisconsin. The challenge of catching such a fish
on the fly rod is a challenge worthy of pursuit. In addition, there
was not a lot of information available to help in this pursuit.
Therefore, most of the thoughts and efforts were to be developed through
experience and observations. Are you up to the challenge?

Beautiful
46" muskie on the left & the last muskie of the year (2002) on the right, a
beautiful 43"er. Water temps were very cold, and air temps the same,
both muskies were caught with black & orange Pond Monster Streamer.
Many people do not think you can catch muskies on the fly in cold water
conditions. Misinformation is a problem, keep an open mind and
experiment with all aspects of your strategy. These muskies cared
enough to come out and fight, and their efforts were greatly appreciated.
The last couple of fishing
trips in November 2004, all of the muskies that were caught were caught on
full sinking line. Six muskies over 40 inches in the last two times on
the water.
